Bun doesn’t really like to eat. All this month he has downright refused mushy baby food and cereals. He won’t even try something unless he can grasp it in his pudgy little fingers and bring it to his own mouth. And even then, it’s a struggle getting him to accept something new. I have tried giving him diced fruits, veggies, breads and crackers; but the only thing he eats with relish and aplomb is Cheerios. He would enjoy those little o-shaped bits every single time he sat at his highchair, if I let him. He will try new finger foods, but after only a couple of bites he is clamping his jaw and turning his head. Of course, he is still a champion nursling, so I try not to worry about it. Still…. baby cannot live on Cheerios alone!

About K.
K. is a blogger. She writes in her blog because she is so vain that she loves it when other people read her ramblings. She fancies herself to be a writer but that "novel" in her head has yet to make it past the first chapter. For now, this little blog is the closest thing she's got to being published (other than that poem she wrote for her high school year book). She'll take that.Recent Comments

BEAN: The First Sun. Born July 2005 and instantly brightened K's world. That is what sons do. He is the big boy and he OWNS that title. He's extremely articulate and has really come out of his shell. He is brilliant and boisterous and beautiful.- ANT: The Second Sun. Born January 2007 and glows just as bright as his brother. He has finally decided to start talking, even though no one can understand him but K. He is generally in a happy mood with an agreeable disposition. Which is a good thing because sometimes his big brother wants to knock him out of his position in the sky.

My middle son was like that. I ended up just feeding him chopped up table food, whatever my daughter was eating. Not the healthiest, but he will eat a much bigger variety of foods now than she will. And he mostly subsisted on breastmilk for over a year, too.
Amanda, I am working on doing that with Bun as well. To my surprise he really likes tilapia and fresh peas. All I can do is keep trying different things, ya know? At least breastmilk is the perfect food!!!
According to my mother, I would ONLY take breastmilk and nothing else until I was well into my second year. The doctor said no problem and I was always a healthy kid.
I wouldn’t rush him, if I were you. He’ll be open to other foods soon enough… in the meantime, your milk has all the nutrients he needs.
I feel like I am reading aobut my own trials and tribulations with my daughter who is one month younger than Bun. If she can hold it, she wants it. If we have to use a spoon, she resists. We tend to chop up or tear up what ever we are having to eat because she wants to eat what the rest of the family eats at the same time. She does not want anything else. She also nurses and has no intention of giving that up anytime soon. She is really attached to that idea and truly believes she should stay that way. (hehehe)
I also read your short little bio, and want to say keep up the good work. My husband is a corpsman in the Navy, so I completely understand the tiomes you are going through.
Thank you Christine, please come back and see me.
Ellen, I needed that reminder. The ped is making me feel like crap that Bun isn’t gaining well anymore, and I think I just need to remember what mommy’s milk is really all about.
